Waterbury History & Genealogy Projects
This site is dedicated to all families with ties — past or present — to the Connecticut region known as Greater Waterbury. Covering parts of three Connecticut Counties (New Haven, Hartford, and Litchfield), the area is rich in history. Although much has changed during the last few decades, there is still great opportunity for many in this region. By using this site, you will help preserve the history of Waterbury and stimulate continued success for the future.

Biographies of Waterbury Mayors
Since the incorporation of Waterbury in 1853, just 45 men have held the title of Mayor. We have already begun the process to research historical Mayors and are seeking individuals to help in this effort. Our list of Waterbury Mayors can serve as a starting point if you are interested in "adopting" a Mayor for your next research project.

Memorial Pages
This feature will enable site visitors to create individual memorial pages for anyone deceased person with connections to the Greater Waterbury area. Once submitted, the name of each decedent will be added to a searchable index for others doing future research. Memorial pages will also have the ability to include photographs.

Scovill Bulletin
Digitization, data extraction, and indexing of the Scovill Bulletin archive. Published by Waterbury's Scovill Manufacturing Company for its employees, this newsletter was like a small weekly newspaper and contained a great deal of information of interest for anyone researching Waterbury-area family history. Births, weddings, and deaths were reported. Baby photos and milestone wedding anniversary photos were also published. The Bulletin also contained details pertaining to shop accidents and service anniversaries. During WWII, each issue contained details about area soldiers. Since many Waterbury-area families had ties to Scovills, this resource is thought to be of widespread interest.
Anyone with access to original copies of The Bulletin should contact us immediately.

Profiles of Waterbury's World War II Veterans
This section of the site will enable individuals from anywhere in the world to submit profiles (text and photographs) for individuals that served our country during the second World War. Resources will not allow us to verify the information submitted, but it will be briefly screened to ensure no inappropriate content is presented on this site.

Do You Remember When?
We will generate a list of "Historic Moments" and then provide a means for anyone to easily share their recollection of that event. In years to come, this will serve as an important collection of first-hand remembrances for various aspects of Greater Waterbury history.

Profiles of Immigrant Villages
Towards the end of the 19th century and for the first few decades of the 20th century, Waterbury was the final stop for many immigrants pursuing their dream of a new life in America. In some cases, certain European villages began to empty while the various ethnic neighborhoods of Waterbury grew. As word of opportunity in Waterbury traveled back to these villages, other family members and neighbors would eventually join.
