Greater Waterbury City & Town Profiles

There appear to be various definitions for the region called Greater Waterbury. The original settlement at Mattatuck covered an area of approximately 60 square miles. Stretching to Derby at the south and Wallingford to the southeast, settlers from Farmington first settled in the area known as Town Plot, but would later move and establish a permanent settlement around what is now the Green in downtown Waterbury.
